The United States seeks to provide its commander in chief the opportunity to issue orders on the use of low-yield nuclear weapons, as they said, to prevent a global conflict. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Ryabkov, referring to the analysis of the recent statements of American security officials. He also suggested that the Pentagon selected Russian mines with ballistic missiles and protected command and control points as military targets for low-yield nuclear weapons.

“The introduction of such concepts brings us back decades ago to an ideology, when nuclear weapons were considered as weapons of the battlefield. Two steps remain from these low-powered nuclear charges until the return of nuclear artillery, nuclear mortars, nuclear mines, and nuclear grenades”, - the diplomat said.

Earlier, Channel Five reported that the State Department questioned the Russian Poseidon system at risk for the United States.
